Express News Bulletin is an outlet of 24World Media. This Code of Ethics states the standards our newsroom desks work to, so readers can judge our reporting against a published promise rather than a slogan. Publisher: 24World Media, 1411 N Sterling Ave, Palatine, IL 60067.
Truth before speed. Our brand promises express speed, but no deadline justifies publishing an unverified claim as fact. Desks check names, dates, figures and background against primary or reputable sources before publication. What cannot be established is attributed, hedged in proportion to the evidence, or held. Headlines must be true to the article beneath them, without clickbait, curiosity gaps or promises the reporting does not keep.
Honest authorship. Bylines on this site are named newsroom desks — World & Politics, Business & Technology, Sports & Entertainment, Health & Science — each with a public archive and an honest desk biography. We do not invent individual reporters, credentials, employment histories or personal biographies, and we do not use fabricated portraits. Accountability sits with the named desk and the publisher.
Original work. We write our own reporting. We do not copy wire text, scrape feeds, stitch summaries without added value, or republish another outlet's work as our own. Where we rely on another reputable report, we attribute it and add verification, context or explanation of our own. Brief attributed quotations are used sparingly to convey what a source actually said.
No deception. We do not use misleading images, cropped photographs that change meaning, or illustrative pictures presented as evidence of a specific moment. Featured images are licensed, credited and visually checked before publication under a strict decency standard: no nudity, exposure, swimwear or lingerie focus, see-through clothing or suggestive posing on any story, with extra care on entertainment coverage. A borderline image is rejected and, if no decent licensed alternative exists, the story is not published with it.
Fairness and independence. Subjects of critical reporting should have a fair chance to respond where time and safety permit, and their response, refusal or unavailability should be noted. Gifts, payments and commercial relationships do not buy coverage, angles or silence. Advertising is labelled and kept separate from news decisions; sponsored material is disclosed and paid links carry the appropriate attributes.
Corrections. Errors are corrected promptly and visibly under the Corrections policy, with a dated note stating what changed. We do not silently rewrite history. Developing stories are updated and labelled as updates, distinct from corrections.
Respect. We report on crime, health, conflict and tragedy without sensationalising victims, without publishing gratuitous detail, and without naming individuals where the public interest does not require it and the law or safety counsels restraint. Health reporting never offers individual diagnosis or treatment advice.
Breaches. Readers who believe we have breached this code should write through the Contact page naming this code and the article concerned. The publisher reviews disputed handling and, where a breach is confirmed, corrects the record under the Corrections policy.
Sources and confidentiality. Desks prefer named, primary sources: official documents, data, recordings, direct statements and the publications of record. Anonymous sourcing is used sparingly, only where the information is important, cannot be obtained on the record, and can be corroborated; the reason for anonymity is stated where safety permits. A source who asks for confidentiality through the Contact page will have that request respected within the newsroom, subject to the practical limits of web forms noted on that page.
Conflicts and disclosure. Where a story concerns the publisher, the network, an advertiser or a partner, that relationship is disclosed in the story. Desk members do not accept payment or valuable gifts from story subjects. Where automation assists drafting or checking, a human desk remains responsible for verification, and the published story is judged by the same standard as any other reporting.
