Privacy Policy

Effective date: 10 October 2026. Publisher: 24World Media, 1411 N Sterling Ave, Palatine, IL 60067. Contact for privacy matters: [email protected]. This policy describes how Express News Bulletin collects, uses and protects information when you read our reporting, contact a newsroom desk, or interact with advertising on this site. It applies to this website only.

Information you give us. When you use the contact form you provide your name, email address and the contents of your message so we can respond. Story tips and correction requests may include documents or links you choose to send; do not send passwords, payment details or sensitive personal information through the form. If you write to us directly by email, we receive your email address and message in the same way. We use this information to respond, to assess tips and corrections, and to keep a record of editorial decisions where that is necessary for accountability.

Information collected automatically. Like most news sites, our servers record standard request information such as the page requested, date and time, browser type and referring page, which we use to operate the site, prevent abuse and understand which sections readers use. We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the site to function, for security, and, where enabled, for measuring readership in aggregate. Advertising partners, where advertising is served, may use their own cookies subject to their own policies; advertising is labelled on the page. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect site function.

How we use information. We use contact information to reply to enquiries, route corrections to the responsible desk, and administer advertising bookings. We use aggregate readership information to improve sections, fix errors and plan coverage; we do not sell personal information. We do not use contact-form messages to build marketing profiles, and we do not add tipsters or correction requesters to marketing lists.

Sharing. We share information only where necessary: with service providers who host the site, deliver email, provide security or serve labelled advertising, under instructions to use it only for that purpose; with the publisher, 24World Media, where an enquiry concerns the network, advertising or a legal matter; and where required by law, court order or to protect the rights and safety of readers, staff or the public. Where a story tip is shared within the newsroom to verify a report, we take care not to expose a confidential source beyond those who need to assess it.

Retention. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to handle the enquiry and, for corrections, to maintain the editorial record. Server logs are retained for a limited period for security and operations and then deleted or anonymised. If you ask us to delete a contact message we no longer need, write to [email protected] and we will do so unless we must retain it for legal or editorial-record reasons, in which case we will explain why.

Your choices. You may ask what personal information we hold about you from your own messages, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable time and verify that the request comes from the address concerned before acting. You may unsubscribe from any mailing you explicitly joined by following its instructions; transactional replies to your own enquiry are not marketing.

Children. This is a general-audience news site. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for marketing purposes. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent us personal information through the contact form may write to us and we will delete it promptly.

Security. We use encrypted connections where the site is served over HTTPS, access controls on newsroom systems, and reputable security tooling to protect the site. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we ask readers not to send highly sensitive information through web forms.

Changes. If we change this policy materially, we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes affecting contact or advertising data, note the change on this page. Continued use of the site after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy for new interactions.

This policy is a plain-language statement of our practice, not legal advice. Readers with specific legal questions should consult a qualified adviser in their jurisdiction.

Cookies in detail. Strictly necessary cookies support security, load balancing and remembering choices such as cookie preferences where offered. Functional cookies, where used, remember display preferences. Aggregate measurement, where enabled, counts visits and popular sections without identifying individual readers to the newsroom. Advertising cookies, where advertising is served, are set by the advertising provider for delivery and frequency control and are governed by that provider's policy linked from the advertisement or available on request. Your browser's help pages explain how to view, block or delete cookies; some site features may not work correctly without strictly necessary cookies.

Do Not Track and preference signals. Where a browser sends a recognised privacy preference signal, we treat it as a request to limit non-essential measurement for that browser to the extent our current tooling honours it. The Privacy Choices and Cookie Preferences footer links, where present, deep-link to the relevant section of this policy; they do not create a separate consent system unless the footer states otherwise.

Data location and transfers. The site is hosted in the United States and operated by a United States publisher. If you contact us from another jurisdiction, your message will be processed in the United States. We apply the protections described here regardless of where a message originates, and we respond to access and deletion requests from any reader using the process above.

Links. Articles link to official documents, agencies, journals, leagues, studios and other outlets for verification and further reading. Those sites have their own privacy policies and are not covered by this one. We choose links for editorial value, not for data collection.

Retention in detail. Editorial correspondence concerning a published story, including correction requests and the desk's assessment, may be retained as part of the editorial record for as long as the story remains published, so that later questions about the same report can be answered from the record rather than from memory. Routine commercial correspondence is retained for the life of the booking and a reasonable period afterwards for accounting and dispute purposes. Aggregated, anonymised readership statistics that cannot identify a reader may be retained longer for year-to-year section planning.

Security incidents. If we become aware of unauthorised access affecting contact information, we will assess what was affected, contain the issue, and notify affected readers where required by applicable law or where the risk to them makes notification appropriate, without undue delay. Readers who believe a message they sent has been misused should write to [email protected] marked "Privacy" so the report reaches the publisher directly.
